Gonzo Almost 600 Grams

pyromaniac Mar 27, 2010 06:11 PM

My Pacific gopher Gonzo today. Not the best picture as she is going into blue. She was hatched August 24, '08. I think she is rather large for a Pacific gopher her age at 596 grams now. I don't have anybody else old enough to compare her to, so am just guessing.

Nice looking snake...but I'm confused...what is that sticking out at the end of your hand???

It's a piece of clay pottery hanging on the fence. This is a perfect example of how the human eye will filter such irrelevant things out of the picture when seeing it in real life, but be tricked by the camera, which does not filter out such things. I am having to remember to see things the way the camera sees them to avoid such goofs.

Looks like one heck of a nice, high yellow, clean catenifer. Also sure looks big for 600gms.

...and what's up with that horn sticking out?

Have a nice day

Thanks, guys, for the nice comments!
The horn thing is part of a clay planter thing hanging on the fence.

Here she is again but she sees the ivy and wanted to go there in a big way!

Here is her pretty yellow belly.

I dig the orange tint that snake has.
Most of the Pacific Gophers I've found look like this:

Yeah, like Tim said, great orange coloring on her. She's hands down the best Pacific Gopher I've ever seen! I thought she was one of the Mexican Gophers ssps upon first looking @ her. Any locale info on her?

I got her from Bill Gillingham at GreatValley Serpentarium in Lodi. Since then I have tried to find out her background but Bill doesn't remember selling her to me. I was hoping I could have found the breeder, like I found the breeder of my pyros and subsequently was able to contact this person and get more pyros from him. But no such luck with Gonzo. To make matters even worse, I had got her brother at the same time but he died (have since learned how to treat regurge and not lost anybody else). She on the other hand has thrived.

Lorenzo, her future mate, unrelated. He also is a good eater, and also can be fed by hand.

Lorenzo looks like he's got similar coloring. Both very good looking snakes. How old/big is he?

Lorenzo weighed 262 grams as of 3-3-10. He was hatched sometime in October 08. I got him in 3-17-09.

Here he is this morning with his sister Zumbida; she is the one on the moss hide container. Normally this affair is covered by a cardboard soda flat. They like to be together. I separated them for awhile and they got depressed and slowed down on feeding, but resumed feeding once reunited. I don't want them to mate with each other, though, so separation is still in their future.

My wc Pacific Gomez from Calaveras County.
I also have a pair of Santa Cruz, Ca. babies that I got from Shannon Brown, who look like Gomez.

Great looking snake you have there, I have what I think is a albino male pacific gopher around 1200grams. Who knows how old, he is the calmest snake ever, you cant get him to bite or hiss, My 2 year old holds him. I tried one day for about 45 mins by restraining his head lightly, jerking my hands around in front of the strike zone-nothing. Foods a diffrent story.

I am not sure of his orgins or if he is even pure. His pattern and color say Pacific not San Diego, but I have no clue. Finding a lone adult female is never easy. I will post a picture of him tomorrow. You tell me what you think.
