Hi, anybody know where I can get that transistor chip for the a419. I want to construct my own thermos. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks...

Its a little nec circuit board that converts 120 to 24 for the binary input in the a419. reptile basics model has it. Its all internal now. Just looking for the source so I can build my own.Thanks.

The BIN requires only a closed circuit, not 24 volts applied to the terminals. I use a relay from Radio Shack part # 275-217. If you were to run two wires from the BIN terminals to a switch, you could enter the night drop mode with the flick of a switch. A timer connected to the relay flicks the switch automatically for you. Don't connect voltage to the BIN terminals. For what you get, buying the assembled night drop from Reptile Basics is a bargain. The only reason I do it myself is because I hard wire mine on a board and connect a dimmer in line to avoid the rapid on/off cycles. The relay is inside the box behind the outlet that the timer is plugged in to.

Ok that makes sense. I was reading and understanding it all wrong. So I am looking for these little nec relays then. I like that they are internal. Thanks for your help.

I'm not familiar with what you have in the picture. What is it? Is that from Reptile Basics?

Yea it is. weird little relay it must just be normally open right? great idea keeping it consolidated. I cant find anything online.

Do the green and yellow wires go to the BIN terminals? The night drop they had before was not that small and was in a separate box. The relay from radio shack is the size of a walnut, it won't fit in the enclosure. It has to go in a box of it's own.

Yes the green and yellow go to the binary. The 120v cord is just a lamp cord. I don't want to deal with all the external stuff knowing you can conceal it in the a419.

what are your trying to do? You said 120 volts to 24 volts correct? are they ac or dc volts?
