A pure Hog Island boa male would be an ideal pet. The Hog Islands do not get as large as the regular Colombian boas. They are very docile and display beautiful colors and color changes. A male Colombian boa would be a consideration also. Most boas when captive bred and handled properly grow into gentle adults that appear to like being handled and interact with their keepers. Another snake to consider is a Jungle Carpet or Irian Jaya carpet. Though nippy as babies they can be tamed easily. Do a lot of research on the net and see what snake would be best for you. Good luck with your choice. Bill

You are welcome! The Irian Jaya stay smaller usually than the Jungle Carpets. I would say that both carpets as males would be in the 4-6 foot range and they are slender as compaired to boas. Bill.

I shared your desire. Corns are great but still rather skinny. Yet I cannot have a larger boid anymore due to the wife's rules.

So I got a Children's python. Although only 3-3 1/2ft as adults, they have some nice girth, they are very inquisitive, they are very calm, they eat, and they are all python.

The babies are extremely shy and often will not feed if you are standing there watching, but will eat after you leave. However, as adults they have a great personality.

If you have a cage with height, they will sometimes perch up high. Just a cool python that will take advantage of all the cage has to offer.

Ball Pythons may be what everyone gets... but I find them to be the perfect size for handling etc.
