Louisiana milks??

Does anyone here keep or breed amaura or know of anyone who still does? I'd love if someone here could point me in the right direction!

Thanks,

Brad

Hey Brad, you are an LGCHS member in LA, right? Email me. I may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks, Kevin -- email sent! I'd still be interested in anyone else's suggestions.

Brad,

Are you looking for information on husbandry, natural history, or acquiring stock? Husbandry is essentially identical to that of the other small North American forms (gentilis, syspila, etc.). There are a few guys working with/breeding them.

Hi Cole,

I'm actually interested in acquiring stock. I've enjoyed an excellent two years down here in Louisiana, but I'll be heading North at the end of May to head back to North Carolina where I'll be joining the Class of 2014 at NCSU's College of Veterinary Medicine. In preparation for an intensive vet school curriculum, I've sold or loaned out the vast majority of my python collection and I'm planning to keep only a handful of designer and locality milk snakes over the next four years or so. As I told Kevin, I couldn't think of more appropriate or meaningful southern souvenir than a nice pair of locality amaura. I understand they're tough to keep (due mostly to their small size) and even tougher to come by. I've emailed KJ Lodrigue and understand Theron Magers has been known to work with them too. Anyone else that you know of?

Thanks again!

Brad
