Breeding weight for Mandarin Ratsnakes

eksnek Mar 29, 2010 01:01 PM

I haven't been able to find out the breeding weight for these guys.

I recently purchased both, a 4 year old male and a 130gram female (from someone else).

What is a safe weight for the female to breed? They both were brumated this past season (According to the sellers)

Thanks,
Kenny

Kenny,

I just got some weights on our breeder girls and the min. weight for breeding would be right about 350 grams. You can try at a smaller size but I don't see any real breeding success until that size.
My best breeders are all over 500 grams.

Thanks Chad! Looks like i still have a year or two before she will be ready. And I was about to give up checking for a reply...lol

The only rat snakes i own are Mandarins. But they are fast becoming one of my favorite species.

Regards,
Kenny
