Splatterblast Mom - Cinni or you decide

spudsballpythons Mar 29, 2010 11:52 PM

Here are 3 pics of the splatterblast mom. She was imported as a baby. She was one out of about 40 that I picked out of about 2000 imported babies. I thought her pattern was cool and her coloring was a bit different as a baby (more greenish than the others), but overall she just seemed normal as she got older. She doesn't look like any cinni or black pastel I have seen and definately not like a pewter. Her eyes are dark like a normal without any green or bluish tint. Here are current pics of the mom. I'm hoping that she's gravid again (fat girl...lol)!

Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Kenny Scott

Her belly is not clear. She has dark broken pattern down both sides of the belly with very light cream colored speckling on the belly.
Sorry I took so long to reply. The mom was in shed and I wanted to get a good look at her belly before replying.
Thanks,

Well...if it is a cinny, it's an ugly one. (No offense)

We need a belly shot.

Perhaps it's something new. Experiment.

I would say the only thing she could be is a chocolate but to be a mudball pin I don't think it would look like that. so either your foolin around or you some how mixed up clutch info. Cause I really doubt that snake produced a pewter pin.

well I took another glance at the splatterblast. I do believe your female is a chocolate and that is a Pastel Chocolate Pin Stripe. I remember seeing some pastel chocolates they were greenish yellow color like you described your splatterblast being.

i was at bhb warehouse last week and noticed a pewter blast male that i did not see the last few times i was there and it looks exactly like this one in the picture it had caught my eye and i asked brian if they had been produced before and he said he has heard of a couple out there

I know there has been pewter pins before thats not what i was saying. I was talking about his female being a chocolate and not bein able to produce a pewter pin. That is a chocolate pastel pin not a pewter pin. that is if he is showing the true mother of the snake.

Yep, that's the real mom...lol...No mistaking the eggs. It was my last clutch of the year last year. I posted the pics of her because some people were saying that the baby is a pewter blast and I do not think that the mom looks anything like a cinni or black pastel. Maybe that is what she will prove out to be-a new imported line of black pastel - I'm just not convinced of it at this time.

Yeah, I spoke with Brian about it and showed him the splatterblast at a reptile show recently. He said that he had produced a pewter blast that looked like my splatter blast. I would love to see the pics of his. Even so, the difference is that my mother is an import. She does not have a clear belly. If she is a black pastel, then she is a different line that what is currently on the market.I'll be working with her and the lemonblast dad more to look further into this. If I produce another snake this year with dorsal striping that has the pewter coloring, I may be more convinced that the mom is an import black-pastel. Right now, I'm just not too sure. That's part of the fun of breeding ball pythons...lol...
Thanks,
-Kenny

Do chocolates have a clear belly? Perhaps she is a black pastel/chocolate and that is what muddled up the typical black pastel belly and pattern. If so...lucky...haha.
