A couple of photos of my Pied Black Pine

pikiemikie Apr 01, 2010 12:12 PM

They are pied like Persian Rat snakes, not like ball pythons. Thanks for looking, Mike Bodner

I was thinking about those just the other day. I remember seeing an ad or two a few years ago for hets but I dont think I saw any ads or even heard anything at all about them in the past year or so....

Awesome Pines for sure...

Mike,
Great post, thanks!
How about a full body photo? There are some tantalizing scales showing in the background.

I waited three and a half years to breed them(they hatched in 2006)this year. One female laid four good eggs and four slugs on her dry substrate because I did not think she was ready and I did not provide a nest box in time(never bred LA Pines before). I discovered the eggs a couple days late - they were all dried out(they are now on wet perlite just in case) I have another female that looks like she will lay soon(I'm ready). So I guess I do breed them.

Russ, about how long is the female that laid eggs?.Mike

tortlemon Apr 04, 2010 06:53 AM

Mike,
Never bothered meauring her; that was fun. She isn't the tamest snake, but I got a pretty good measurement - 64". Here are some photos of her. I think she's mad at me for blowing it with her eggs.

Here's the female that I believe is gravid. Same snake, same camera, same flash, different backgrounds and look at the color difference. She is actually closer in color to the photos on top of the nest box.

Now that's a sturdy looking pine. Love that look.
