Had a little success...my male tends to bite the females which freaks them out. Is that normal for this breed?

yep....my NJ male just grabs as soon as he sees her...anywhere he can...grab and hold on....she freaks and runs....S.M. male takes a better aproach and is at least talking to her as he grabs her by the throat and places his whole body along hers....

both females stopped eating probably already....too fast,...

....amel nelson's bred....knobs I think bred, both ....amel ruthven's I saw breed yesterday finally.....hopefully the pales and reds do NOT make follicles....I really hate when females develop when I do not want them to....

...good luck...!!!

well...the OC stopped eating and didn't look all that fat...
at probably 22? 24 inches it's hard to look fat...small....
had the male in with her yet...making sure...
today ,clean and feed and separated.....ummm...13 dry eggs in there.....hmmmmm....13.....wow....8 bigger ones would have made me happier....13...and small...not quite like elapsoides but, small.....hopefully they pump back up.....they aren't too too bad....

.......in case anyone wanted to know how many they do....

(last year- not bred....8 in Feb and 9 in Aug)duds...

Update....still biting, right now breeding w/ #2....2 more to go. Male has started going in the blue, but hit her right away. This time she gave in after a minute or two. He caughter her about 6" behind head this time...apparently a better spot.

Interesting species.

Update....#1 female laid 6 nice eggs, but they are smooth, no pattern on the shell. Not suprised, she never bred?! Female #4 is breeding as I write....that makes 3/4 so far, and yes, he's biting this one too. Still not used to this biting thing.

Should be getting eggs from #2 soon, #3 within a couple of weeks, and #4 in a month? Breeding seems to be going well now, but fertility is still unknown. They are all now 2 months out of hibernation and the male breeds every time I put a girl in his cage. He's gotten alot better at it. I will try to breed #1 this weekend after she's eaten a few more fuzzies....she is a pig.

Thanks,
Roger
