Illinois snakes and morphs

snakepunk Apr 03, 2010 05:57 PM

I've been breeding corns for over 10 years, but I'm wanting to start working with other colubrids, some of which are native IL species/subspecies.

Does anyone know what the legality is on buying/breeding/selling native IL snakes within the state? How would that relate to morphs (amel prairie kings, white-sided black rats, locality bulls, etc)?

I've seen many of these at the tables of vendors at the Tinley show (even emory rats which are listed as state-threatened), but didn't want to risk a huge fine or jail time on that.

I've have tried looking it up on the IDNR website, but it isn't exactly clear on a lot of things.

Thanks.

Got it.

I couldn't think of anyone better to address these questions.

Maybe you could post a link?

Thanks Scott.

Tim,
I'll check when I'm in the office on Wednesday and see if there is a link I can post.

Thanks,
Scott

Hey Scott,

Think you could explain this openly here?

Also hope to see you at reptilefest this weekend....

Cindy,
Its a lot easier explaining it over the phone. If you want to email me, I'd be happy to call you about it on Wednesday.

Enjoy the Chicago Reptile Fest. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this year.

Thanks,
Scott

Yeah, I had tried emailing you, but it was your previous email address so it didn't go through. I did just and send you a message about this to your current address.

so long as it is not a protected species my understanding is that you gotta have Resident Retail Aquatic Life Dealer permit, without it i THINK your allowed up to 15 IL species(not protected ones) with a fishing permit, however you cant sell or profit from any off spring produced, my understanding is vague so i seen someone suggested speaking to Scott, Id talk to him or look up IL DNR and contact their permits dept, i dont deal in anything native so their may be other stipulations im not aware of, hope that helps

Sometimes I wanna light up underneath the no-smoking sign
Sometimes I wish they'd tell me, how justice got so blind
I wish they'd just leave me alone 'cause I'm doing alright
You can take your change on down the road and leave me here with mine

'Cause that ain't my America
That aint this country's roots
You wanna slam old Uncle Sam
But I ain't letting you
I'm mad as hell and you know I still bleed Red, White, and Blue
That ain't us
That Ain't My America
Now there's kids who can't pray in school
$100 dollar tanks of gas
I can tell you right now this country ain't
AIN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT!

NO!
