Congrats! Good luck with them.
I am still impatiently waiting for mine...lol
1) Turn your incubator down to 82.
2) Don't get impatient and don't muck with em'
3) Once out they are not as hard to start on F/T as some say, And don't be surprised to find they shed very quickly after hatching.

1:1 vermiculite to water seems to be too wet for hogs. Squeeze it out until the water just drips out under the pressure of your hands. If it runs out, its too wet IMO. I also put a 1" layer of perlite on top of the vermiculite. The eggs sit on this layer and don't come in direct contact with water saturated vermiculite. I second the 82 deg. incubator as well.
Good luck and congrats!!

so, ring out the vermiculite, 82 deg, or, should I use dry vermiculite with the deli cup with water and holes....
...and ya I REALLY dont want to screw this up, she just finished laying how long do I have to get this set up?right?
You got it.. I don't know about the dry vermic method, but the way I suggested works great. Just make sure it doesn't get too dry during the incubation.

Like Jon said, the 50/50 is too wet unless you are using a SIM container...
The correct ratio would be 1 to .8... If you have 100 grams vermiculite you would add 80 grams of water...
For colubrid eggs I prefer to use perlite or the SIM incubation container... Eggs stay dryer... Vermiculite keeps the moisture too close to the egg for my liking...
will do , thnx guys, HAPPY EASTER!!!!!! best one of my life, dont tell my mother, lol
You could also use the plastic 'egg crate' from the lighting section at Lowes or HD. Lay a piece of it on top of the vermiculite and then the eggs can sit on it.
I always used perlite but cannot find any local anymore that is not the miracle grow brand. The miracle grow brand has fertilizer added so it's no good. So I've gone to using either sphagnum or the egg crate method.
