What size mice for my desert king

hobbes992 Apr 05, 2010 04:15 PM

She's at 36 inches now. Got her in 08. Her feeding response has gotten better over time. I'm feeding her 4 hoppers at a time every few days, cause she's always so hungry. Should I go directly to full size adult mice at this point? Maybe even small rats? I'd love to see her get to 4 feet before her growth stops, or even bigger haha. Not sure how much of a factor feedings play in on growth, or if that's basically just a genetic factor. Nurture vs Nature? :P

Thanks!

I'll post pics when I get answers haha!

At three foot, she can probably take large adult mice with no problems. Feed her prey 1 to 1.5 times the size of her largest area of girth.

Adult mice, definitely.

Look for previous posts by 'BlueRosy'(Rainer) about the nutritional value of pinkies/hoppers and you'll know why your splendida always seems to be hungry... (other than being underfed)

..and as always, post pics!

The albino line is not of Texas locale.....
The original was found in New Mexico.....
But I am sure some have been bred into many different locales....Not to mention other ssp......
