Injured red ear slider

A extremly young RES apeared in my parents backyard, I took it off their hands and have placed it in a standard turtle cage. It is only about 2 inches long, but the really bad thing is that it apears to be blind you can wiggle your fingers in front of its eyes and it won't move. Where its eyes should be there is a grey mass that does not extend beyond the eye socket. When the turtle was found it was sitting in a bright patch of sunlight(southern Calif. 95 degrees) and apeared to be dead. Any ideas on what to do? As is it looks starved and near death.....maybe I should euthanize(sp?)?

I would... with sadness, to be sure. But sometimes these things happen. I wouldn't delay.

Before you go off and euthanize it, is there any chance you can post a photo of this poor little guy? Maybe someone can recognize what the problem might be. I think it's rather difficult to come to the conclusion that it should be euthanized right away based on a description of what appears to be the problem with it.
