YAY! My male finally ate today...

geckobabies Apr 07, 2010 05:12 PM

So yea, my 8g male finally decided to kick back into eating today after only five months off feed! :rolls eyes: One other male went off feed for about 3 months, but four females ate right through the winter. Strange!

Awesome snake...

I have to say I have not had any issue with any of my 7 hognose snakes when it comes to feeding... They all eat any time I offer food... I think it has a lot to do with how hot you keep them... Mine are set up with a 92 degree hot spot... Right now ambient air temps are between 80 and 83... They eat and drink a lot...

Yea I think you're right. I keep a hot spot over 90 as well, but the ambient temps in the snake room fall in the winter, and it's difficult to keep the ambient temps above 80. It's just interesting that the females have not gone off feed just the two males kept in the exact same conditions.

Hopefully I can get him up to size by this winter, but at this point I am not so sure.
