Moving into new enclosure

Gary93 Apr 10, 2010 11:05 AM

this has not been a fun experience :banghead: buddy refuses to be picked up, so moving him from his tank into his new home was not easy. i had to empty out his old enclosure and put that into his new home and im just going to let him climb out on his own. but i have successfully scared the living crap out of him. so i think i have to start all over again to gain his trust :banghead:
anyways, here's a few pics

and a couple from a few days ago just for fun

Gary, I think you are doing fine but being too protective. Picking up your lizard to move him is not going to scar him for life. There are times when you have to do things against its will. Of course it wont like it, your cylcura is terrified and will be for a couple of years regardless what you do.Its what keeps them alive in the wild. Do what you have to do, if its healthy and your husbandry is good they are pretty tough. If you have to pick'em up just do it, try not to let it whack stuff with his tail and injure it, dont drop'em and put it down so it can walk out of your hand. You wont undo any positive interaction you have had. repeated and excess handling is what you want to avoid for right now. You are doing okay

No he's right! my show is on Nat Geo. I whisper cuz cyclura hate to be yelled at. Mark will be my next guest, "husbandry and sarcasm"
I thought putting the old cage into the new cage because the keeper thought he cant pick it up was a bit over the top, or "I have a problem, my hatchling doesnt want to be touched..." thats not a problem. Just strictly going by the letter of a post on the forum is way too limiting. There is a balance and everyone's situation is different.
Thanks Mark,

Dude I love to be your guest. We'll have some unsuspecting audience member yell in Punks face. The outcome will become a U-tube sensation. We'll bump Leno for the top spot.

Yes! excellent idea. That would be a great Tshirt "iguana whisperer" and Punk in full on gape! For those reading, Punk is Mark"s fantastic Caymanensis that really doesnt like people or at least the two of us.
