Joe,

That snake is obviously NOT pregnant! I think it's suffering instead from a psychotic episode where it believes itself to be a mouse bratwurst. Just tickle it's underside a bit and it'll let stop holding its breath!

Nah, in all seriousness....sheesh. What a beaut!

Also, we found a screamer today. Female about two feet long. Perfect.

A king may move a man, a father may claim a son. But remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus" or that "virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice.

SAWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! That is one beautiful animal you have there. Nice work. Do you have a photo of the other one you found? I would love to see it. As far as being a few feet away from flipped snakes that someone else flipped---well, that is just the luck of the draw most of the time, as we all know. At least he was there to see it. Flipping a rock and seeing something so colorful in nature-----doesn't get any better then that IMO.

shannon brown Apr 11, 2010 03:09 PM

Yeah, I have been the one five feet away many of times.

Anyway, here is the young male I found.

Nothing nicer than a coastal Mtn king IMO.

Did you find it under AC, Trash, boards or sandstone?

I lived up in the Santa cruz moutains for a while so i had found them under a variety of ways and spots. Some spots like sandstone you really have to work hard and could take you serval hours to find just one.

Poor Jerry, was here there? Did he get a chance to find any in the seirras this past week. temps were perfect in the 5000ft range.

They where both found under logs.

Yes, Jerry and his cool little daughter where both there with me for several days.We had a blast and found lots of snakes but just the two z's.
We didn't hit the sierra's on the trip Rainer but maybe next time.
