Fighting or Breeding??

BeArDyCrAzY May 25, 2003 07:58 PM

I just went upstairs to check on my leos that i'm trying to breed and my male and female leos seem to be fighting instead of breeding. They both shake their tales towards each other. When my male moves closer towards my female, he bites her and she bites him back. They both back away and do this again. The male "didn't do his thing" yet. As of what i've have seen so far. Any suggestions/comments would be highly appriciated Thnx!

if theyre both shaking their tails at each other, are you sure you dont have 2 males!? ive never seen a female do the tail shake except when about to strike a cricket or something.

thats so weird. its ok though if its just novelty fighting. if it gets to the point that one may get hurt, then you have a problem.

Fighting can normally indicate that breeding is about to take place.
The males will vibrate their tails when they are ready to breed.
Altho I have noticed this in my females as well..but normally when they are aggrevated and want nothing to do with the male.
I would say this is normal, unless you see that they are really hurting each other..when they are both ready to breed, the male will bite on the females tail to get a steady grip, causing little to no damage. But if you notice him biting at her continously in a violent manner, you might want to separate them and try again later.
Hope this helps.
And good luck!
