We added a timer to the UVB light so that will go off at night.
Is this the correct installment?
thanks.

Turning off the UVB light at night is the correct thing to do. They need dark/light cycles just like we do.
As for your previous current-in-tank question, try to fill up the tank as much as you can, without him escaping easily. With larger water volume, the current won't be as strong. RES are strong swimmers so you needn't worry about them drowning. Just make sure that they have an exposed basking area and some shallow areas to rest on.
Good luck with your baby (um...the reptilian one).
Thanks for answering my questions!
The UVB light went off at night like it was supposed to and all. So that was good. Once it was dark it was easier to see where the light was shining ~ and it is shining on his rock. I have the two lights right next to each other because that is where Checkers spends most of his time during the day. I may try moving the UVB light right over his "spot" and then put the warming lamp UP (using the arm clamp) and shining in the same spot but from an angle.
I will work on this..
I guess I will switch to every other day feeding too.
thanks again, kay
