The crystal is a Special morph.
Special x Mojave or lesser will produce a crystal.
Very special indeed.

Does anyone have some pix of the Special or info where I can find it ?

Go to the other popular ball-python site and type 2008 super special in the search engine, that will give you the run down on that project.

No sense posting it here as the good people at kingsnake would delete this post.

any other combo with the Special gene would require a different name because it would have a different genetic make-up!!!

Specials don't look "special". If fact, they are very unremarkable. To the untrained eye they look like a normal.

BHB calls his a Lesser Crystal, and others might go the same route with Butter Crystals, Mystic Crystals, etc...
I believe Brian also calls his Het Crystals which are not visible at all.
As far as Specials looking like normals, they might until you put one next to a normal and then there is no mistaking. In my first group of eggs ever, I called a normal baby a "Halfstel" since I thought it tried hard to be a Pastel, but just didnt quite make it. I didnt know about Specials then, so he was sold as a pet. I even held back the Pastel Special female in the clutch because she was so much better looking than the normal Pastel. My first 7 eggs and I could tell something was up!

***Just to note before questions are asked... Epic is a highlighter trait found in Crystal clutches. It makes some morphs much nicer and that is all that is really known at the moment.***

for the photos!! I am expecting my first Special clutches in a month. From your post, I can expect to be able to pick out the Specials in my clutches -- which has been a fear of mine that I can now put to rest -- THANKS!

Awesome photos -- and I look forward to seeing your Special project animals this year. All the luck!!!
