2006 La Pine first clutch

tortlemon Apr 14, 2010 06:08 PM

This girl just laid a huge clutch of 8 good(so far)eggs. First year for her and me(never bred La Pines before). I always read they lay 4 eggs per clutch. These are not small, as my hand shows. They are about the size of my N. pine and B. pine eggs.
yeah!

Whoohooo!!! Congrats! That is one intereting looking ruthveni. I really like the small saddles with big spacing. Best of luck with hatching!

Just measured the eggs - 3" to 3 1/2" long. The B. Pine eggs are 2 3/4" to 3 1/4" long so the La Pines are larger.

That's a great looking snake! I've always thought that Black Pine Snake eggs are big, but I've read that LA Pines have the largest eggs of any North American snake. Nice clutch!

I wish I could go back to 2006..

Darn those eggs are big. Do the babies hatch out huge as well?

"2006 La Pine" refers to the females birth date.
2006 would be a good year to go back to...
This is a first for her, and me, so I can only assume they hatch out large.

Hey Russ,
Nice clutch!! That is surly an interesting female. Have any data on her beside birth year? Lineage data??
How soon after coming out of brumation did you introduce her to the male, and how long was she gravid for before laying??? Just wondering about some specifics.
Thanks for your time and congrats again!!!!
