Behavior of a gravid boa

Pithons Apr 14, 2010 09:58 PM

A few days before a female gives birth it will seem restless and will cruise her cage looking for the best spot to give birth. Also in those days she is go to the bathroom called the waxy stool.. My question is, normally speaking, does the female become restless in the cage before she does her waxy stool.. Or does she poo first, then because really restless?

I've seen both. Some of my females have gotten restless up to a week before the big day. Some have suprised me and did almost no cruising before the big event. I guess it's like people, some are more calm than others, and some are more dramatic!

In either case, the poo is usually 24-48 hours pre-parturition.
