Tip 'O Texas find..

RioBravoReptiles Apr 15, 2010 04:15 PM

.. I found this critter while I was out hiking today.. a spotted newt!
.

.
These things are practically impossible to observe in the field without specific information on where and when to look.. so stumbling across this guy out in habitat scores big for me...
.

.
Neat stuff.. I also encountered several snakes.. this one being the most photogenic..
.

.
South Brownsville, Texas.. today!

Well, you trumped my finds today. I got one Ground Skink, one Rough Green Snake, one Texas Rat ( but someone had killed it, makes me sick, it happened minutes after I passed the area. Found it on the way back. Ignorant fool!). And one Southern Prarie Lizard crossing a road, in town.
Pretty pedestrian, but a good start to my field season.

Matthew
Stop rubbing my nose in those Texas Indigos all the time! LOL
