i've used the 20watt one. doesn't give off very much heat at all. So if your looking for a heat and uv light you will need to check out a more expensive bulb. As for how long it lasts dunno yet. i've only had it for about 3months.

I've been using one, but have only had it a short while. For an animal that needs the UVB I'd still change it more frequently than one year, though.

The light is bright and great (I can't remember what my wattage it, it's either 20, 25, or 40) without heat.
