Stillwater Hypo one year later. . .

jonellopez Sep 21, 2003 08:35 PM

Hey everyone

i was taking some pics of my animals the other day and while i was browsing through my old files i saw a group pic of stillwater hypo hatchlings from last year. there were some really nice ones in the clutch and i held back a female from that particular group. i only wished that i could keep 'em all! don't we want to keep everything? hehe. i also had a long waiting list for these animals so i sold out right away. i wasn't suprised since they are really awesome looking pitouphis. what really caught my eye with that particular female though is that she had the most reduction of black on her. and i felt that she would be a really nice adult after she completes her color change and really show her degree of hypomelanism. well after a very good year of eating(she's feeding on weaned rats now!) and growing(already 4 feet!) my hunch was starting to prove it self. i just wanted to show some of you how these animals change from drab looking babies into colorful adults. hope you guys enjoy these series of pics. take care.

here's her pic taken a couple of days ago. i'm not really sure which one she is from the group pic but as you can see compared to those hatchlings she developed more peachy colors too. take note that she's only a yearling and her transformation may not be complete yet. she might be more beautiful as an adult than my current breeders! i'm very excited to breed her in 2005 but at her current rate iw ouldnt be suprised if she goes a year early. i love these guys.

Man, what a substantial animal. No squirmy colubrid here: that thing is built like a boa. I like.
