Herping North Texas

boomslang2050 Apr 17, 2010 07:04 PM

Howdy Folks,

I moved to the Dallas area a few years back and finally have some time to do some herping. Anyone know of some good spots? I'm especially looking for lampro species. Also looking to make a trip down to south texas looking for annulata, anyone know of some hot spots?

I'm heading down south for The Texas Star Party next month, which happens to be in the Davis moutains. L. alterna country! Might not see one, but going to try!
I live approx. 35 miles south of Dallas. I have a pretty good area for herp spotting & pics here. Its even in the 50 Best Texas Hikes, but it is on public land. NO collecting allowed.
Not that this bothers me, I'm into photos these days anyway.

Good luck seeing some alterna....I miss going to west texas but I know I'd have a hard time resisting collecting if I saw something cool. I still want to make a trip out there this year even if I can only bring back photos. Let me know if you are ever planning to do some herping up this way. I always enjoy checking out new places and networking.

You are in Cedar Hill? Cool, not so far away from me. I used to work in Midlothian, until a couple of months ago. Plus my family Doc has her office up there.
Well, I'm down there for the dark skies, but I'll certainly be herping if I can.
