Hybino Honduran?

Sinaloan Apr 18, 2010 10:45 AM

Hi Guys,

Seen this guy advertised as a Tangerine Albino, However, I'm contemplating if it's a Hybino or not. Before you ask, they have no details of it's parents or genetics. Is the only accurate way to know if it is or not is to know the genetics of that snakes, or breed it out.

Well, first off, going by EXACTLY what you stated, if it was advertised as a "tangerine albino" and didn't mention anything about it being a possible hybino, it is VERY doubtful it is anything other than an amel(albino). But if it was advertised as a "tangerine albino/possible hybino, then the only way to know with certainty is to KNOW that BOTH parents were "hybino's" as well, or at least one parent was a definite hybino, and that the other was a hypo that was het amel that produced the suspected hybino(or it wouldn't be an albino in the first place).

If this is not known with absolute certainty, the suspected "possible hybino" has to be test bred to a hypo animal. Then, if ALL offspring are hypo, you then know for a FACT that your suspected possible hybino IS INDEED a hybino.

I have some killer bicolored tangerine albino that are ALL possible hybino's too, but I will have to prove this out later on when they mature.

actually, doug (and i know you know this) a definite hybino can also come from pairing two hypos both het for amel--all the babies will be hypos so any that are amel are in fact both, and thus are hybinos. You're right of course about not being able to ID them by looking, gotta have parentage info.

Yep!,.......you are right about that Terry, and I forgot to mention that breeding scenario as well. Thanks for adding that one in!

Sweet!

When do u expect to breed those two Doug?

DMong Apr 19, 2010 09:49 PM

Thanks Zenny!,........

Well, it will be at least a couple years unfortunately, they are late '09's, but I can't wait to get some of those guys into my future breeding programs. BTW, I sold the above female, but have a couple KILLER pin-banded V/P female's held back along with an awesome bicolored pin-banded V/P male or two as well.

take care man!, ~Doug
