Here are some updated pics of the Super pastel genetic stripe and her male sibling. Neither animal has any black pigment, and they get better looking everyday. Hope you all enjoy the pics.

I see the super pastel genetic stripe which is outstanding but I also see an Ultramel??

Yeah, not real sure what is going on with the sib. Those were the only two babies out of the clutch. Only had two fertile eggs, the other three were bad. Hopefully this year will yield more information when she lays. However, he does look like an ultramel.
Funny you say that as I almost posted that about the Pastel too but I really think it's just some sort of burgandy hypo type gene or something in the pastel that your seeing there, something like that anyway and it's something genetic I would think. If that snake were next to a ultramel I think you would see that they are different.
My question is where did the Genetic Stripe stock that produced these 2 come from and was it intentional that the other color showed up or just eneded up that way?
Anthony McCain
Yeah, after looking at many pics, I'd have to agree that it's not an ultramel. I'm not sure which stock they come from. I bought the pair from a guy in Chicago.
At the Tinley Park show or just someone in Chicago?
Do you mind sharing what the Pastel parents look like? It could be recessive but also could be something slightly visual in one or both of the parents (likely based on if they were related or not) so that's why I asked. Would be interesting to see them and if you don't want me to post what I think on here I'll just send a message to you directly instead if I see anything that catches my eye. I work with the G Stripes and have made a few Pastel G Stripes already as well as do know a little about some of the more subtle hypo codoms so could possibly shed a little light on what you might have going on (if the other gene is not recessive anyway). Figured I would offer anyway, no pressure , no big deal either way.
Anthony McCain
Yes very interesting pair. Do you own the parents or did you buy just the 2 hatchlings?

Does not look like an Ultra to me. Super Pastel Het G Stripe???
I don't believe that is a one gene Pastel!!

Not really thinking that's a Super Pastel with a head like that and without any serious blushing on the back, or weird markings at the back of the head as Super Pastels usually will have. As light as it is on the sides it should have a least a couple really stonewashed almost white spots on the dorsal and nothing really stood out that much that I could tell. I do think it isn't just a regular Pastel Bill , that I would agree on with you. It is lacking black and has a weird background color so doubt it's just a Pastel . Pastel Het G Stripes can be pretty cleaned up and colorful. I have a Pastel 66% Het 4 G Stripe female myself that is simply incredible looking , she almost looks like a black backed Firefly , maybe tomorrow I'll see if I can get a pic to show you , but this one he has is even lighter than what I've seen so far.
Anthony McCain
What I mean Bill is the type of blushing it does have running down the spine isn't that extreme to be a Super Pastel I don't think and is more like another gene alltogether that's doing that. If you look at the head on the Super Pastel Stripe it is alot different than the head on it's sibling, the heads would look basically the same if they both were Super Pastels I would think..
This stuff never gets boring so that keeps it fun wondering what's next to try and figure out!
Anthony McCain
Hey, thanks for all the insight....keep it coming. I will try and post pics of the parents on Tuesday. Will be at work tomorrow for 24hrs. I just bought them from a friend of my step-sisters, who lives in Chicago. Thanks for all the replies
Anytime man, interesting stuff you have there! Get back with us when you have time and if you can get pics of what made this pair that would possibly help explain what you could have.
Anthony McCain
Here are a few pics I posted a while back, shortly after they were born
and a few more pics.
Whatever they are, they're sure awesome!! Congrats on producing those.
I would guess POG and SPOG-G-stripe.
With those heads on there they look like they could possibly have some Vanilla in them? I haven't seen too many Vanilla combos but those heads just scream vanilla/super vanilla

Me and a friend were discussing that certain G-Stripe animals are dark and others seem almost hypo-ish. Some lines are cleanly striped while some are heavily patterned.
My bud has one from Mark Bailey that appears almost hypo, I wonder if there is a little bit more to this equation than we think. (other than good colored parents.
and by the way what a screaming hot pair. CONGRATS!!
