Bill Love Photo Presentation

Moonstone Apr 18, 2010 09:10 PM

Our local herp club, Southern Nevada Herpetlogical Society had Bill Love do a photo pesentation. For those of you who don't know who he is, he has done many of the covers of reptiles magazine. He talked about how to take better pics of reptiles and amphs with what ever camera you have. If your club has the chance to have him I highly recomend it. He talked about basics that really help, not all the f-stop stuff. This was taken with my normal sony little point and shoot. Enjoy!

Bill Love is a very renowned reptile photographer and co-author of The Cornsnake Manual (co-wrote it with his wife Kathy Love who breeds cornsnakes). Bill has been a special guest in the chat room during Chat week/month several times in the past. He also attentions various International Herpetology Symposiums over the years as well. Definitely a guy to hear speak and to meet. I also expect half the reptile related photos seen in various books on the market now, have been taken by him.

I have met him in person myself several years ago as well as enjoyed his appearances in the chat rooms during past special guests chats. For anybody interesting in reading the past guest chats with Bill and other notables in the reptile community, you can view the transcripts here: chat.pethobbyist.com/transcript.php?s=chat_transcript&p=king

Bill and Kathy were at the recent Repticon show in Pensacola Florida. Bill gave a presentation on photography, but I didnt attend. I could kick myself now based on the above post because it seems like he provides great general info and not just a laundry list of high tech camera equipment you should have LOL!! I met and spoke with Kathy personally at the show and she appeared to be very friendly and approachable. She chatted with my daughter and I while we were looking at available animals on her table.

That is exactly what he did. He showed bad pics and then showed how to fix them up with spacing, lighting, background, arrangement. And he showed you the issues, so you could prevent them or recognize them. I always had light problems. He showed a bunch of pics with lighting issues and how to fix it. It was awesome. You will go home and take a better pic the very next time you picked up a camera. I know how hard it is to get good speakers for club meetings. He was first rate.
