first litter from my own kids.....

gray Apr 19, 2010 02:46 PM

I didn't realize this at first but after a little research I discoverd that this was my first litter where both adults were born at my house. Pretty cool when you worked with the grandparents and raised the parents from babies. Anyways, this was a Jungle litter.....still my favorite mutation. I love the variation in pattern, color, contrast.......you never know what you're going to get. In this case, the mom was offering a possible double dose of hypomelanism and a single dose of the Jungle mutation while the father was offering a single dose of the Jungle gene. The mother was raised nice and slow.....only 9.2 lbs at 5 years of age when the breeding began. She did great for a first time Mom.....14 live, 1 stillborn, 0 slugs on day 103 POS. The results were 2 Salmon Super Jungles, 7 Salmon Jungles, & 5 Jungles. Really neat variety.....from a mostly patternless Salmon Super Jungle to a Jungle with a long chain stripe to a Jungle with no real aberrancy. Did you say photos?

GREAT looking litter Grey ... has to be one of your best yet, and that's saying alot. Know what ya mean about it being extra special due to both parents being produced there. Hopefully next year I will be able to say the same

Warm Regards,

You are on a roll! Glad to see you producing the quality and visually appealing animals you are known for. I know the last couple of years has been disappointing for you and hopefully these litters will keep that fire sparked to show us more. I know the investments you have made over the years so I know you are stoked right now. Can't wait for the surprises to follow.

Take care,
AJ

.....after this long struggle with legislative threats, it sure is nice to see everybody posting photos of all the amazing baby boas being produced. Nothing like some beautiful new life to lift our spirits. Thanks for all the kind remarks and I hope everyone gets to see some of their projects reach fruition.

wow Gray, awsome babies, amazing jungles and I cannot even imagine the feeling of producing from babies you raised! I've had males I've raised produce but no females yet, I can't wait, it's got to be such a great feeling! None of those babies would be here now if it weren't for your hard work and dedication. Selective breeding at it's best! I am always blown away with the quality you produce.

Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing!!

Fell out of my chair Gray. You continue to keep a high bar for everyone wanting to produce high end boas. Thanks for all you have done for this industry and not to mention keeping most people honest at the same time.
