How many weeks does it take for a mouse to reach a true adult size
are you refering to the size they produce babies at?..
are you refering to "weaned" age?..
a mouse becomes a "sexual active breeding adult" at a very young age, i have severl tubs of first time moms who are about 8-10 weeks of age.. while i have others who dont produce till 10-12 weeks of age..
defining a "size" is never easy.. everyones idea of a "fuzzy" "peach fuzzy" "hopper" "weaned" is alittle diffrent depending on who you talk too
the scale i go by when selling mice is this..
Pinky Mice - 1-2½ grams (1" x 3/8" rough size)
Small Fuzzy Mice - 2½-5½ grams (1½" x ½" rough size)
Medium Fuzzy Mice - 5½ -6 ½ grams (1¾" x ½" rough size)
Hopper Mice - 6½-10 grams (2" x ¾" rough size)
Small/Medium Adult Mice - 10-20 grams (2½" x 1" rough size)
Large Adult Mice - 20-40 grams (3" x 1½" rough size)
Jumbo Mice - 40 grams (4" x 1½" rough size)
Do you or anyone have a similarscale for rats??
this is what i go by for my sizing chart:
Pinky Rats - 3-8 grams (1½" x ½" rough size)
Small Fuzzy Rats - 8-15 grams (2" x ¾" rough size)
Large Fuzzy Rats - 15-30 grams (3" x 1" rough size)
Weanling Rats - 30-50 grams (4" x 1½" rough size)
Small Rats - 50-100 grams (5" x 1¾" rough size)
Medium Rats - 100-200 grams (6" x 2" rough size)
Large Adult Rats - 200-300 grams (7½" x 2¼" rough size)
Jumbo Rats - 300-450 grams (8 - 9" x 2½" rough size)
SuperJumbo Rats - 450-800 grams (9 - 11" x 3" rough size)

Dan - as always, your advice/information is spot on. And these two posts on sizes are no exception. Just wanted to extend my thanks in specific for these guidelines (I suspect a lot of time/effort went into gathering this data) and also thanks in general for the posts you've written in the past. Always a learning experience, you're definitely a benefit to this forum.
So, again, many thanks!

im glad i could be of use to people here.. i take pride in my feeders, and spend many many hours a week working with them.. trying out new rack designs.. working with new tubs to see what works and what just doesnt..
ive met several people from the forum who found out i was located in the seattle area, and have helped quite a few of them establish thriving breeder colonies of their own. I love helping people any time i can, especially with their feeder rodents
best wishes

my very old males get 450grams at most and they look huge!!... i think its genetic... i live in a small country and i can imagine the inbreeding that took place in the feeer somunity!!.
ehhh... i cannot imagine the size of a 800grams rat!!! .... do all your rats get this size in due time ( male only i suppose anyway)
they are pretty few and far between in my colony.. every now and then ill have a male or two that gets MASSIVE and will creep up on that 600-800 gram range
it helps to have good blood.. i have some IRC and SWISS blood in some of my rats, as well as the best "fancy" rat blood i can produce in my litters.
i average 12-17 babies per female for their first litters.. and litters top out at around 20ish for females after that
ill have to take a pic of my biggest male.. i should weigh him too LOL

Big Daddy is only 625 grams and he's huge.
