Bulb Question...

kiknskreem Apr 20, 2010 09:33 AM

Hello guys, I was just given an adult beardie with some lights.

Included was a Reptisun Bulb and an ExoTerra Sun Glo bulb.

As I understand it, the reptisun bulb has the UVB he needs, and the Sun Glo bulb, while "wide spectrum" isn't "full spectrum" and thus unnecessary?

That combo isn't bringing the temps up high enough so I'd like to replace the Sun Glo bulb with a regular 100W incandescent.

Thanks for the input!

Regarding the Reptisun UVB: See post below labeled "UVB coil bulbs" if it is a compact UVB. If it is not make sure that you know how old the bulb is. The UVB output decreases with age and Zoo Med says to replace them yearly. It would probably be best to replace it now.

The Sun Glow can be replaced with any bulb that produces the proper basking spot (105-110) and ambient (~90) temperatures on the warm side.
