What are some safe fruits or veggies....(and more about water)

And can the water be too cold? I know for some lizards you should keep the water warm enough so they dont get chilled. Are WDs the same? Because I plan on making a waterfalla nd little pool in my WDs' cages so would I have to buy a wtaer heater or is it ok?

Well carrots, spinach and stuff, lettuce is mostly water, does fine for veggies. For fruits, havent tried much, I've heard melons are good, and I gave my guy some banana today . The best way to feed them these items is to put them on the end of a skiny stick and sorta wiggle it around infront of them. I dont play with the water temperature, i just keep the cage around 80-90.

Building a water fall is a great idea, and dont worry about heating the water. It will change according to your tanks' temperature. Make sure the drags have a basking spot, so if they do get too cool, they can warm up in no time.
As for fruits and veggies, mellons are great as well as bananas as stated earlier. But please stay away from spinach, for all reptiles dont use it, as well as beet greens and one certain type of lettuce. I will get back to you when I get an update on why spinach is not reccomended and what other lettuce to stay away from.
Also, try not to feed to many fish (if you're doing that) they deplete vitamin D deposits in your reps. Ill find the chemical process for that too.

Good luck, They'll love ya for the running water.

here are a few facts on what is bad veggie and fruit wise for you lizards .. ohh and a lil more about fish and protien

spinach: High in vit. A (67 IU/g), high in oxalates (19:1 ox:ca), goitrogens

what that mean is that it binds calcium.. if fed regularly could result in major things like mbd

ice berg lettuce and loose leaf lettuce are no good either because they have no nutrition value and cause the runs which can lead to dehrydation

bananas are ok but are high in phorphous.. there are better fruits to use such as figs (they are high in fiber and calcium) grapes, papaya, mango, melons, and berries.

now if you can't get you wd to eat veggies or fruits.. they is a way to balance their diet so they can still get the vitamins..

if no veggies
up the amount of whole prey
feed juicy worms like nightcrawlers
and feed less supers, crix, mealies etc..
and dust with a multivitamin once a week or so..

and if you are gonna feed fish try to stay away from goldfish.. i think i heard guppies are better

and visit www.beautifuldragons.com for a complete list of what is good and what is bad.. it is a bearded dragon site.. but the nutrition content section is for all humans and herps..
