Morning Surpise -- Eggs!

tgcorley Apr 23, 2010 08:07 AM

Here is a quick shot I took this morning of my MSP female thayeri laying her first clutch of eggs. I have waited almost 5 years to see this because I bought my first thayeri as hatchlings back then. The first few eggs look good, but I am certainly not counting any chickens yet. If all goes well I will certainly post pix of the parents and the hatchlings. What a great way to start the day!

Congrats, Tom!

I had my first clutch of the season (8 axanthic splenida eggs) laid on 4/6. Exciting times indeed. Good Luck with the eggs; I hope they all hatch!

Update -- I count 11 so far and it looks like she has one or two more near her vent. They all look promising, no slugs. I'll keep you posted . . .

Congrats Tom....
Your morning was better than mine....
I had one female lay the largest clutch of thayeri eggs I have ever personally witness...She laid 18 but I think only 3 are good......I have another female laying today as well....So far 4 good eggs and one bad........Two others just shed and will lay any day now......Others are in their pre egg laying shed cycle and others are still breeding........

now to get that female that laid 18 back on her feet and try another male on her as I blame it on the one I used since it seems she did her part producing that many egg follicles.....

Again congratulations Tom....Good luck with the eggs and all your projects this year.....
