my first litter of 2010

mike_panic Apr 23, 2010 06:48 PM

For me, this was a nice little litter. Mainly because its nice to finally know this female can produce viable offspring. In 2008, I bred one of my lipstick albino females to a Lipstick albino male. She had a 20 plus, full term litter of DOA Lipstick Albinos. Last season, I bred her to a Lipstick Sunglow and she had a premature litter of slugs and premies all of which were DOA. I said to myself, let me try a non albino male in 2010. This season, she was bred by a Hypo Motley het Albino produced by Ray and Dustin Bueno. It was a messy litter with many big bellies but 13 survived out of 17 fully developed babies. There were 8 or so slugs. Anyway, I ended up with 5 Albino mots and 3 Motleys het Albino all of which is a first for me. We'll see if they all make it. Anyway, take care and be safe. Mike Panichi

Mike,

Congratulations.

You must feel relieved about the female.

Hard to go wrong with a litter that has albio motleys in it.

Good luck with the rest of your season bud.

don't lose any of those beauts! They were born full of yolk, must give them decent bellie warmth.

congrats Mike..those look just fine..you are on your way.
Question you should have produced sunglow motley..were they any in the litter?

mike_panic Apr 24, 2010 07:41 AM

I didn't and I wasnt expecting any. Here's why. I traded away three primo Lipstick sunglow males for a hypo motley het Albino male figuring with some nice Lipstick albino females I have, I could make sunglow motleys. Well of course with my luck, LOL, I found out well after the fact that you cannot bring the hypo AND motley over from one parent. So I knew going into this breeding, there wouldnt be any hypo motleys or sunglow motleys. And there wasnt. I gave up six thousand dollars worth of snakes to learn this. From what I'm told, this little dirty secret has been floating around the privleged for some time now. If thats true, its a disgrace that they would put money ahead of morals. That being said, this litter is important to me because I feel like I figured out this female a little bit this season. Anyway Tibor, I hope all is well with you. Take care. Mike Panichi

Congrats Mike! Love that Albino Mot in the middle. They'll be fine...like many others have said....keep 'em heated (and send that Albino Mot my way).

Sorry for such a late comment... I haven't been online in a bit
Take care- Ryan
