A bottle floating in one pic and then whatever is with the bubbles...at least they're surviving the pollution.
Littering(and burning trash), unfortunately, is a way of life for many here in South Carolina. Many people cant afford or simply won't pay for trash pick up. The bright side is, trash and debris attract snakes. Its a bad habit that could be easily corrected. I guess I'm just used to the litter and dont even notice anymore. The bubbles are from stagnation of the water. It was a stream that is normally dry by the end of summer. When it swells, it can hardly handle the water flow and it pools up and slows down. Its really just a water filled ditch.
Thanks for your concern,
Justin
your salamander is a mud salamander unsure of exact species.

Thanks. cant find my field guide right now. Surprisingly, the salamander turned up on a sandy dry hill side under a log section.

Either a Southern Red or a Mud ( very close relative!).
Cool pics!
