Recently I got female 2003 western hognose from www.albino.hognose.com She eats unscented pinkies like its going out of style. But I have heard and seen many ppl on this forum having feeding problems with their hognoses. She ate 3 times the first week. Is that normal for a hog to eat that much or is it too much. I do not want to over feed her. I only fed her the third pinkie cuz some of my cali kings would not eat it.
She was fed on Monday, Wensday, and Saturday of this past week.
Is it normal for a western hognose to have such a strong feeding response. She eats better than my rosy boas do and thats what surprises me.

Hi John,

My albino male and a few of my het and poss het females would eat EVERY single day if I let them. The only real problem you may run into with overeating is regurgitation, but if you are feeding appropriately sized food items two-three times a week you should be alright.

Be thankful that you have a good feeder... I'm still struggling with a couple of my females. One still only eats scented, and another ate unscented 4 times, but the past 10 days she hasn't wanted to eat at all.

Ball Pythons, Red Striped Leos, W.Hognose and Screaming AFT's

I was just surprised a snake as small as her would eat a pinkie.
I probably am going to start feeding her just twice a week soon.
I plan on getting 3 more 2003 normal western hognoses. Right now all I have is one female. I want 2 males and 1 female that are unrealated. I have one male that I sent a money order off for friday and the guy I sent it too as far as I know still has not gotten it yet so I think it may have gotten lost or misplaced in the mail system somewhere. I am kind of waiting to see what happens with this before I go and order the second unrealted pair.

I just got an email from the guy who I am getting 2003 male western hognose from for the female 2003 western hognose I have and my money order finally got there. must have taken its time.
I will post some pics of the hogs I have. I have takens some pictures of the female I have but they did not come out to good.
