Is this a ovulation or not?

moreliascom Apr 25, 2010 06:11 PM

Hi,
You may or may not have seen the last post I made about this girl, but now new pictures and a new question!

Iv had this hypo female bloat up, then get normal and so on for the past month, atleast. The male has tried to breed here on and off, Iv seen tails aligned and wrapped. But I have not seen any insertation from the angel where they have been lying, offcourse.

So thursday I give here 2x 250gr rats.

She is about 22-24 pounds, so it was not a large meal at all.

Today, sunday, this is what I see:

Would you say this is/was a ovulation?
Because another female did ovulate today,
and it looked like this:

So Im not shure if these 2 snake "events" are the same thing.

Sorry for the dirty cages, but Iv been very freaky with moving theme while the males have been showing interrest.

Thanks
Bård

Can't really say for sure one way or the other. Could be an ov, could be a pre-ov swell, or it could just be due to the recent feeding (they always swell up about 2-3 days after eatting as the gas builds up digesting the prey).

As long as the male is still showing interest, I say, leave him in there and just wait for a shed.
Good luck

April,

Thank you for your reply.

I agree to that it can be a gas build up, but only time Iv seen here so bloated was when I have here a 4 pound rabbit.

Well that could have been somewhat "worse" to be hounest.
And from the 2 rats weigthing about 1/4 of that rabbit she seems too large for it to only food induced.

Ill keep the male in there, and see if she expands even more.

Thanks
Bård
