I found a tortoise called a rainforets tortoise. Some one said it was a type of hing back but the thing is that I do not think it was a hingeback tortoise. Its shell looked more like that of a box turtle(nice, smooth arc) than of a hinge back(arc falling off sharply in the back). Any more help would be apritiated. (I might just be going crazy and it realy is a hinge back).

It sounds as if it could be a hingeback but a photo would make it a bit easier to tell for certain.

Look at the following page and for help in telling which kind you have.

I have also attached a photo of a Bell's hingeback which I think you may be describing. (colors vary widely in this species)

Thank you all for the help. Looks like I am out voted, it was a hinge back. Kinixys erosa I think. (I do not have a pic, saw it at a show) Thanks all.
