Herping the interstate is illegal - you can't stop, you can't walk on the shoulder.

Also, the I-10 doesn't go to Pecos, I-20 does. They split about 70 miles SW of Pecos. I-10 goes through better alterna habitat.

You could look on the feeder roads where they are present, except that hunting from the roadway or right-of-way are now illegal. Is that being enforced? Are people doing it?....(crickets chirping)

thanks for the help! yeah i know they split and i know that its illegal to hunt on right of way, but what are the odds of us finding one in the day flipping? we are mainly into lizards but would really like to find a gray banded!! are they common around that area?
thanks again

"what are the odds of us finding one in the day flipping?"

Perhaps about the same odds of finding a boa in the southern tip of Nevada...HA!

If you know it's illegal to collect on the ROW, perhaps a better question is "What's the odds of finding anywhere between El Paso and Pecos that I CAN collect?" To that, I answer "Good luck." If you're determined to try, I'd suggest looking in the areas around Sierra Blanca or Van Horn. Maybe you'll find a rancher willing to let you wander around... maybe.
