I didn't think it was good to feed babies mealworms. That is what I have been told. Can you clear this up for me?
That is not mealworms..... it is squash. Does look like them in the photo though doesn't it? LOL
Oh and 1/2 are now out of the egg and running around... here is the first "official" group photo
8 out and 9 to go

MEALWORMS AND SUPERWORMS ARE BAD FOR BEARDIES!!!
can you tell me why?
mealies have a very hard thick chitin, and make it hard to digest them, supers have a thinner chitin making them a better choice. they are however higher in fat then crickets and should not be used as a daily feeder, using them once to twice a week a few at a time in my opinion is fine if you are looking for variety. other choices in worms are butterworms, which are very high in calcium and make a great treat, and silkworms, which are an excellent daily feeder, high in calcium and softbodied, cant beat silkies

You can also get very small supers....Use fresh shed ones and cut the heads off and feed them to younger dragons. By younger I mean older than 2-3 months. They MUST be dusted though because they have a high phos rating.

Well, some people think the heads are too large and hard, etc. I was just trying to post in a friendly to everyone type of way LOL
I actually have had no problems with leaving the heads on, but I have heard through the "grapevine" of others blaming the heads because of impacted youngsters.
You know how it goes..... some say this, others say that..... NEVER will everyone 100% agree on a topic about feeders.

my 3.5 month old eats small white supers 2 times a week, but only gets 2 at each feeding, he loves them, but are just a treat, i do leave the heads on as they are small enough. but like you have heard that the heads can cause impactions, i imagine if you feed them enough that could definatly be a problem.
