This morning when I woke up and fed the kids, there was a little brown house spider in their tank, with a rather intricate web between the power filter intake, and their basking log. He had a couple mosquitos in it, so he must have been rather busy last night. Well, I dropped their cricket and feeder fish breakfast in the tank, and the little spider went after one of the crickets. As soon as the spider jumped on the crik, one of my hatchlings snapped them both up.
Now, my snaps are both 2". The little cricket/spider happy meal he snapped up was at least 2" long. Big Crik, small spider. I guess I couldn't react in time to stop him from eating the spider, but I was kind of worried if it would make him sick or not... But then I thought that they probably would do the same thing in the wild.
Just wanted to share with you all. It woke me up for sure. I just wish I had it on tape....
