Surprise Clutch - Anaconda X Toffebelly.

GregBennett Apr 30, 2010 11:45 PM

This clutch was a total surprise to me. I put the male in with her a couple times, saw one copulation but she never showed any signs of being gravid. I didn't even get a shed before she laid.

I went down stairs tonight to check on everyone and noticed her in the water bowl. I pulled her up and there laid 4 eggs and one dud. She was still laying them so I quickly made up a laying box and put her in there to finish.

The 4 eggs in the bowl look good and I only had a very small amount of water in the bowl so I'm hoping they'll survive.

Here is a picture of those eggs:

She gave me 4 more good looking eggs and another dud after putting her in the laying box.

Here is a picture of those eggs:

Wish me luck guys.

congrats...I´m sure the watered eggs will survive
we have a female, that act similar to yours. She show never any interest in breeding, no sign to be gravid and drop always unexpected clutches.
And this every year. We call her "Mysteri"

Hey Greg, Those eggs look fine. This looks like a great year for anaconda breeders. Will you post a picture of the parents when you get a chance?

That conda has a really cool pattern Greg... And that Toffe Belly has some amazing coloration... I predict the offspring resulting from this pair will be nothing short of spectacular...

Thanks. The female is just awesome. Her black is really starting to come in also.

I'm really hoping for some nice anacondas.
