poor baby

tonymarinara Sep 22, 2003 09:28 AM

I just adopted a baby leo who has been through a lot already. When I first saw him, he was not only missing his tail(which is what everyone thought was the only problem with him), but his stomach was all scraped up with the scales missing in places and his foot was mangled. It almost looked like he had retained shed, but there was none there, and to get to this point(from my experience) he'd have had to retain several sheds, and he isn't old enough for that. Well, his foot fell off after me being the only one willing to put antibacterial cream on it.(had to do something, but i knew it was inevitable)I took him home, of course. He gets around just fine and seems to be eating well so far. Do you think I should do something to prevent his use of his stump? I am going to call my herp vet later to see what she says. Just wanted to share and see if anyone had any input for me.

Methinks that if it hurts for him to walk on it, he won't walk on it. Just make sure you're keeping him on paper towels, not sand.

I NEVER keep them on sand....also, just because it doesnt hurt now, doesnt mean it wont cause problems eventually...that is why I'm worried about him.

He should be fine keep it clean and on paper towel he should be ok he needs to use it some so it heals good.
