Is this true?

This says that Florida passed legislation that includes Boa constrictors making them illegal for private ownership except for already permitted owners and for them only until their current animals die. I've heard of the new bill, but thought that it pertained to ROCs only.
Does anyone know what's going on in Florida?
Thanks in advance,
Aaron

This has not been adopted according to that article.

this is nothing to worry about.

This is OLD info that was being put together. Initially, they were told to consider all non-native animals in this ban and then whittle it down if necessary. Their conclusions eventually became what just got passed in the House and the Senate in Florida. And the biggest change there is that there are now steep penalties for breaking the law concerning ROC's (ROC's are now known as regulated animals - or something like that).

This is the news media skewing facts and information, something we've become fairly accustomed to in the herp community. They got their timelines all screwed up and have NO idea what they're talking about.

But, thank you for being vigilant and keeping your eyes open. And thank you for posting this as well!

What's written above is purely my opinion. In fact, MOST of what you read on the internet is someone's opinion. Don't take it too seriously

..and thanks, as always for your hard work, Jonathon.
My friend down here who saw the article and asked me about it forwarded it to Andrew of USARK and he also confirmed that the inclusion of boas here was a mistake on the part of the newspaper.
Unfortunately, whether or not this stuff is true, it still hurts us to have it in print.
Thanks again so much for your responses, you two!
