Quick question about new Beardie

oregonboas May 04, 2010 10:59 PM

I recently picked up a Beardie as a family pet. It is a 7 month old female from a reputable breeder here in Portland. She is 100% perfect, not a scale out of place. The only issue is that I don't see her eating her greens. I have the UBV, the temps are right and I offer the greens everyday with cickets or meal worms every other day and the occasional roaches. She has taken small bites of apple, collard greens, or red leaf lettuce from my hand, but only once... after that she won't touch them...

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Here she is...

Ask the breeder what type of greens the dragon was eating. Apples aren't really good for beardies...mustard,turnip,collard,dandelion greens are staples. She should show interest in a bowl of shredded greens. If she is in a new environment, her appetite may take time to readjust. Don't give up,some people do and that's a BIG mistake...no greens will mean a much less healthy animal in the long run.

What Angie said.

Just keep offering them, I prefer to finely chop mine and place in a shallow dish.
