This is currently in the prerule stage because of a petition filed last year this is a rule change and as such does not have to go through Congress or be signed into law....

Title: ¤Injurious Wildlife Evaluation; Amphibian Trade and Chytrid Fungus
Abstract: We are reviewing a petition to add all traded live amphibians or their eggs to our list of injurious wildlife under the Lacey Act unless certified as free of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (chytrid fungus). The importation and introduction of live amphibians infected with chytrid fungus into U.S. natural ecosystems may pose a threat to the interests of U.S. agriculture, fisheries, and commerce, as well as to the welfare and survival of wildlife and wildlife resources. For live amphibians or their eggs infected with chytrid fungus, an injurious wildlife listing would prohibit the importation into, or transportation between, States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or any U.S. territory or possession by any means, without a permit. Permits may be issued for scientific, medical, educational, or zoological purposes.

No, they cant just ban shippments of the affected ones.Or inspect shippments. Who the hell do they think has best chance in assuring the species. US. Thats a one step forward two steps back. Oh, dont forget all the plants that come in. But,they like plants who cares about all the bugs. Oh I almost forgot they Inspect them, but that means their already set up to inspect stuff. That would be to much hassell. We could sit here and make sence all day, would'nt matter. Their after US. WHAT, NOW MY FROGS..........FORGETABOUTIT!........"my cold dead hands" VM

Is USARK planning to do anything about this potential frog ban?

I ask because you are USARK not USAFK. The frog people will appreciate a policy statement.

We cover all herpetofauna Scott. So the short answer is yes we will be covering it. If we don't no one else will. That is why we formed USARK in the first place.

Andrew You guys are doing a great job.Long ago I did not like what some of the directions you were going as in NC.You guys saw the truth long before the rest of us did. There is no way to thank you enough.Ever other reptile rights group never went the distance you have .My problem is as an american I never saw the truth about the long term plan to stop us.Yester day I was out collecting prarie dogs on land I had permission to be on from when I was a kid.Well it turns out the ranch had changed hands and I was trespassing. The game warden came out and man what a anti reptile person he was. Also his interpitation of the law was on the most radicle level I have ever scene. To him there was no flexability in his mind.Any way I had forgot my id and my permits at home my fault. He called me in and found my info but ticketed me any .I was not jailed for tresspassing thank god and the new land owner..In Texas there is an agenda for the game wardens to now hassel all non game permit holders period.I broke the law it was on accident but I did it .Still I did not believe what others had told me about the local game wardens.I am now expecting a full raid on my house as I hold the permit they like to raid.I diserved thee ticket for forgeting my permit and I should of checked with the land owner this year my mistake. But the way he talked about animal keepers and snake collectors was nuts.Any way thanks for all you do as I just eye witnessed the other side and it was very scary .

Of course. The non-game guys are nothing but a nuisance. Small change compared to the Big Game Trophy Hunters with their Canned Hunts.

Sounds like the Sheriff of Nottingham's Men are doing a fine job protecting the interests of the Landed Gentry.

When Animal Rights means the Right to shoot Big Money Game. Roll on Nature Conservancy. Perfect synergy there.

Ya'll need to learn to invite your local game wardens to your christmas parties and give them their "christmas cards". That's how it was done when I was growing up in the oil patch. It saves you a lot of hassle in the long run.

Here in my area my local "game warden" is 50 miles away. Doubt he's wanna drive 100 miles for a free meal and comraderie. Good idea. Since xmas is during waterfowl hunting season you can offer roast duck!
