weird eggs--question

PEACHSICLE May 09, 2010 10:55 AM

Hi,
My female 6 year old corn snake was bred 4 weeks ago--last night she laid shriveled up eggs (not dehydrated)--most attached to each other by a 'string'. This is tough and can't be pulled apart. Anyway, I know they are duds, but what happened? You can hold them up almost like an ugly necklace. Thanks.

The problem could be any number of things. If the male and female was not brumated or ready/conditioned to breed, they may not have produced viable sperm and egg cells. It could be the male dudded out due to being subjected to too high temps, or was bred to too many females before being introduced to this female. Also, some females lay their dud eggs before the good ones. So, its possible she may lay a few viable ones. Its really hard to tell and sometimes its just "fate".
