How does the red, green and yellow phase genetics work?

It's a funny thing and definitely depends on the bloodline. In the last 20 years I have seen reds that fade with age & reds that intensify with age. A few breeders have selectively bred nice reds together and produce nice offspring but it seems random.
One of the breeders awhile back had a formula. Something to the effect of green x yellow makes red. Sounds crazy but worked for him with his snakes over and over and over.
