Incubator...

Gregg_M_Madden May 09, 2010 10:43 PM

Set up the hognose incubator... It has been running at a steady 81 for days now... It can hold up to 10 S.I.M. incubation containers...
I have 3 of them in there at the moment... 2 with a perlite to water ratio of 1 to 1 and another with a celulos substrate I am testing out...

Very nice. I have one like that. It's nice to be able to see the eggs. I've been trying to find an old broken Coke/Pepsi commercial cooler.

Those S.I.M. incubation containers are interesting. I may have to give them a try.

I have an old Coke cooler with sliding glass doors. I had planned on using it for a incubator, but don't need one. I have more of a problem keeping the eggs cool enough here in deep southeast Texas. I just put mine on a shelf in a closet and they stay anywhere from 78-80 without an incubator. I'd gladly give that cooler to anyboby that was close enough to pick it up.

Nice! I was curious if you were using back heat and having any problems with that with those containers maintaining the proper humidity.

Thanks guys... I also rigged the frigde up so it can be plugged in... The refridgeration unit does not kick on but the light inside works and you get a temp readout in red on the front... Pretty cool...

Anyway I am using bottom heat in this one... I am using back heat in a differnt incubator... No issues with humidity in the SIM using those two applications... The only issues are with top heated bird incubators like the Hovabator, little giant, and that new one from zoo-med... However we do have a fix for that situation and the lid modification can be ordered...

Is that a Helix on the side? Also do you have a fan in there?
