First clutch of the season for me.

terryd May 10, 2010 05:26 PM

Not to steal Dave's thunder, but I just got 7 good eggs, one dud, from my het. for hypo. syspila gorilla( I only call her the gorilla cause she's such a big beast mouse eater of a syspila). 7 is a light load for this girl, a couple of years ago she laid 19 eggs.
Any way here she is w/ the clutch.

They look like good sized eggs! I'd take 7 big eggs over 16 smaller ones any day. Congrat! I've been thinking about getting some hypo syspila. IMHO they have a very distinctive look from that of hypo temperalis.

Wow, man! Seven eggs IS a small clutch for that monster! She's an absolute brute. Have you measured her lately?

Dave, I knew you wouldn't be offended, thanks Dude.

Tony, I have to agree w/ you about the look of syspila hypos, and temperalis hypos., and that may be because temperalis have been around longer w/ the pronounced hypo gene, so the temperalis have been pushed a little further.

Cole, I haven't measured her lately, but I'll do that today when I get a little more time.
Like Tony said, better to have bigger eggs in a small clutch, then peas size eggs in a big clutch.

Gotta go pick up kids, bye.
