Booted eggs, do they hatch?

EmberBall May 10, 2010 08:24 PM

I have had a few booted eggs along the way, eggs that the females tosses out of her coils. Do they hatch? Seems like most of mine in the past have been slugs or lousy looking eggs, but my recent clutch, all four look great, two were outside her coils.

For a second thought you mean the eggs were actually kicked...

As for eggs that are outside the female's coils...if they look good they probably are good...since infertile eggs tend to look yellowish and are smaller than good eggs in general. Incubate till they either hatch or smell...

if you go to my site, you see see pics of my spider that "kicked" out an egg. all are in the incubator now and the kicked egg candles just as good as the others.

i've also hatched out kicked eggs fine.

I'm sure eggs just get kicked out by accident.
Incubate it off to the side a bit and see what happens.

I'm sure it can go both ways - mom boots out the ones she doesn't think are good - or she doesn't have enough room to properly coil all her eggs so she kicks out a few or maybe she just coiled them up improperly and gave up on the ones outside the coil. You know the old saying incubate everything.

Good luck!
